Two brothers have been given the maximum sentences allowed in juvenile law for killing a 14-year-old girl and attempting to hide her remains.

The brothers, aged 15 and 17 at the time, will service one and two years respectively in a juvenile detention centre for strangling the girl and the jail terms will be followed by treatment in a psychiatric clinic.

Both teenagers were said by experts to be of below average intelligence, to have ADHD and other developmental disorders.

Lotte was murdered on January 10 after arranging to meet the older brother following a row over a nude photograph of him, which she had sent to a friend.

The boys’ father also remains an official suspect in the cover up of the murder and the public prosecution department will decide later if he too is to face charges.
