Get boosted in the Netherlands, not abroad, health boards say

Regional health board umbrella group GGD GHOR is urging people not to travel abroad for a coronavirus booster dose, saying they could face registration problems, RTL Nieuws reported on Monday.
People have been flocking to Germany and to France for the booster, either because they want to be better protected or because they need it to enter a holiday destination, such as Austria.
But people who do get a booster in Germany, will not get a EU-approved Digital Coronavirus Certificate which is needed to travel, a spokesman told RTL Nieuws. Instead, they will have a paper certificate.
‘To prevent disappointment, we are advising people to get vaccinated in the Netherlands,’ the spokesman said.
Currently everyone born in 1979 or earlier is able to make an appointment for a booster dose. All adults who want the booster should have been able to get one by the end of January, under current government projections.
So far, 16.4% of the Dutch population have had a booster dose, according to the government’s coronavirus dashboard.
