Fully vaccinated, coronavirus and still a green tick? Dutch app needs a fix

People who have been fully vaccinated but test positive for coronavirus will still have a green tick in the CoronavirusCheck app, allowing them to travel within Europe and to attend test for entry events, the Volkskrant said on Thursday.
The public health institute RIVM said on Tuesday that 11% of people currently testing positive for coronavirus have been fully vaccinated.
The health ministry is aware of the problem with the app and is looking into it, website Nu.nl reported.
The problem has arisen because the vaccination registration is for an unlimited period, and there is no way of turning it off the green tick. ‘We are looking at how we can solve this and it is technically pretty tricky,’ a ministry spokesman told broadcaster NOS.
The government’s advisory Outbreak Management Team is also aware of the problem and said that there will be an update at the next press conference on August 13.
The OMT has already said that proof of a negative test could become a requirement for some events, and that will be under consideration in the coming weeks. It recommends everyone attending an event to ask for a test, even if they have already been vaccinated.
A health ministry spokesman told Nu.nl there would not be a problem with the app if people kept to the rules. ‘If you have tested positive, you should go into quarantine whether or not you have been vaccinated,’ the spokesman said.
