Prime minister Mark Rutte and health minister Hugo de Jonge will hold a press conference on Friday evening to outline the latest changes to the coronavirus measures, which are due to come into effect on June 5.

The relaxation of the rules, which cover museums, theatres and cinemas as well as bars and restaurants, is the third stage in the government’s five step plan to open up society again, as vaccinations reduce the spread of the virus.

The official list of ‘third stage’ plans includes allowing private households to have four rather than two visitors as well as increasing the options for indoor sports. The ministers are also expected to announce that restaurants can host up to 30 guests indoors and extending opening hours from 8pm to 10pm.

The first step in the the five step plan was taken on April 28 and the second on May 19.
