New coronavirus cases down sharply, but IT problems may be responsible
The number of new coronavirus infections registered with public health institute RIVM in the 24 hours to Wednesday morning is down sharply on Tuesday’s total. However, statisticians say that computer problems are likely to be behind the decrease.
The RIVM said it had received 5,503 reports overnight, down 1,265 on Tuesday and a low figure for a Wednesday. Groningen’s regional health board, however, suggests that an IT malfunction may be behind the drop.
Today’s figure (5503) is too low. Due to a malfunction at the GGDs not all positive cases of the last 24 hour have been reported. https://t.co/sKRGRSdCXa

The RIVM has registered 50,260 positive tests in the past week, or an average of 7,180 a day.
The number of coronavirus patients being treated in hospital has fallen by 55 to 2,499, according to figures from monitoring body LCPS. Of them, 784 are being treated in intensive care wards.
