A body found at Scheveningen’s port on Thursday is that of a missing student who died last month after a group of surfers were apparently overwhelmed by a thick layer of sea foam.

The 23-year-old’s body was spotted by walkers on the rocks close to where he and four others died.

Rescue teams had been trying to find the body for two weeks. Mathijs and his friend Max, both studying at Delft University, had gone surfing together. The three others who died, all surfing instructors, were in training.

The Dutch sea research institute is still investigating the cause of the sea foam, which was said to be some by over two metres in depth.
