Dutch official coronavirus death toll rises by just 26
The official Dutch coronavirus death toll rose by 26 on Monday, but the figures do not include all weekend developments, the public health institute RIVM said in its daily update.
The new figures take the official death toll to 5,082 although, according to some estimates, the real total may be 40% higher when people who have not been tested for the virus are included.
Nevertheless, the last time fewer than 30 deaths were reported was March 19, shortly after the lockdown started.
The number of hospital admissions rose by just 42, taking the total to 11,037. Again there will be a time lag and the figure does not accurately reflect the last 24 hours, the agency said.
A further 199 people have tested positive for coronavirus, giving a total of 40,770 infections.
