The first frost of the oncoming winter was recorded at the Gilze-Rijen weather station near Breda and Tilburg in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

At around 6.30am the temperature fell to -0.9 Celsius just above ground level and there may be more frost in parts of Brabant and Limburg again tonight, weather bureau Weerplaza said.

Frost was last recorded on July 10, which is extremely late in the year, Weerplaza said.

Wednesday will be dry with sunshine, but cloud will gather later and there may be rain in the north. Thursday and Friday will be similar, but the weekend will be warmer, with temperatures in the low 20s Celsius, according to the KNMI weather bureau.
