Dutch cabinet looks into banning American hate preacher
The Dutch cabinet is looking into banning an American preacher who advocates the death penalty for gay people from coming to the Netherlands to ‘win souls’.
MPs from across the political spectrum, the COC campaign group, and Israel information centre CIDI have all called on the government to ban Steven Anderson for inciting hatred against gay and transgender people.
The justice ministry is currently looking into the issue, foreign affairs minister Stef Blok said on Wednesday afternoon. ‘I have read a number of his statements and they are really shocking,’ Blok said.

Anderson has, for example, said that LGBT stands for ‘let God burn them’ and in 2016 said the death of 50 people in a gay bar attack was ‘good news’ because ‘there’s fifty less pedophiles in this world’.
He has also questioned whether the the Holocaust took place.
Anderson, who has been banned from the UK, plans to visit Amsterdam on May 23 to do some ‘soul winning’, to preach and to ‘try to baptise’ people. He is also visiting Dublin and Sweden. He was earlier banned from South Africa, Botswana and Jamaica because of his views.
