Teenager held in Spanish jail on abuse charges, is released pending court verdict

The 17 year old Dutch school boy who has been held in a juvenile prison in Spain since last August after being charged with abusing two English sisters, has been released from jail.

Charly T’s lawyer asked the Spanish court last week to release the boy. ‘We are finally being listened to,’ the lawyer told broadcaster NOS. ‘Things would seem to be moving in the right direction now the judge has let him leave the detention centre.

The verdict in the case is due next week, the lawyer said. No conditions had been imposed on Charly’s release which means that he can return to the Netherlands.

The Spanish public prosecutor is demanding a four-year jail sentence and a one year supervision order against the teenager for allegedly molested the girls, aged 12 and 14.

The three met at the pool of a holiday resort on the Costa del Sol on the morning both he and the girls were leaving. The three of them finished a bottle of vodka between them after which the alleged assaults took place.
