A man found guilty of killing an innocent bystander in 2015 in an attack on a water pipe café in Amsterdam has been sentenced to 25 years in jail.

Quincy S and an unknown accomplice went to the café in De Clerqstraat shortly after midnight to collect a debt. The man they wanted had just left and they fired shots in the direction of the street. One of the bullets hit a man in a car and killed him. A passing tram, a parked car, a supermarket and two banks were also hit by gunfire. Evidence showed that S fired the fatal shot.

S was also convicted of planning to kill an Amsterdam gangster in Almere.

The public prosecution office had requested a life sentence for S who it says ‘still advertises himself as a contract killer’ but the judge said there was nothing in his record that would suggest that S is a hopeless case who should be locked up for life.
