Schiphol baggage handlers plan further strike action
Staff at Schiphol airport baggage handling/check-in companies Aviapartner, Menzies Aviation and Swissport say they will continue their sporadic strikes until there is a resolution to their pay and conditions demands.
There were work stoppages on both Saturday and Sunday as baggage handlers continued their campaign for improvements in pay and working hours, the Financieele Dagblad reported on Monday.
The work stoppages last for one hour at most and are spread over various loading, baggage handling and check-in stations at the airports.
The actions at the airport last week did not bring the companies and the FNV trade union any closer to agreement, according to FNV spokesman Asmae Hajjari. However, the employers say the two sides are close to agreement on many points in the pay-and-conditions conflict.
