Police in Zeeland are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies were found in woods near a popular campsite.

The alarm was raised on Thursday morning after a passerby spotted a car in the woods near the village of Dishoek.

The bodies were found close to the car, a dark blue Mercedes. Police have not yet said anything about the couple or how they died.

The car had been spotted on Wednesday evening by a German tourist. All the lights were out apart from one, and the tourist told the Telegraaf  she thought a couple were having fun.

The area has now been sealed off and is being combed by forensic experts. A police helicopter has taken photographs of the scene as well, the Telegraaf said.
