Dutch Eredivisie players’ average salary hits €266,000 a year

August 4, 2016

football goal keeperThe average salary for a player in the Dutch Eredivisie went up slightly to €266,000 a year in the 2014/15 season, according to website Voetbal International.

Between 2010 and 2014, average salaries fell from €355,000 to €263,000 as a number of clubs got into financial difficulties. However, differences between the clubs are extremely wide, VI said.

PSV’s Luuk de Jong is one of the biggest earners, with an annual salary of €2.55m plus bonuses. By contrast, a player at PEC Zwolle will earn no more than €200,000 a year, VI said.

VI points out that Dutch players earn well below players in England’s Premier league, where average salaries reach €1.7m a year.
