Ajax draw Russian side FK Rostov in Champions League qualifier
Ajax have drawn Russian league number two FK Rostov in the play-offs for a place in the Champions League competition.
The two sides will first meet on August 16 in Amsterdam. The return leg in Russia takes place on August 24.
The winner will join the draw for a place in the Champions League group stage. PSV, as Eredivisie champions, was automatically placed for the group round.
The two sides have never met before.
Ajax coach Peter Bosz said in a reaction on the Ajax website: ‘I know nothing about them. We do know they came second in the Russian competition last season and they put out Anderlecht in the previous qualification round.’
