After weeks of unsettled weather, the Netherlands is set to enjoy a few days of summer, with temperatures reaching up to the high 20s on Monday and Tuesday, weather bureaus say.

By Wednesday, the temperature could soar past 32 degrees, making it the first official ‘tropical’ day of the year, weather forecaster Weerplaza said.

However, Wednesday’s heat is likely to be followed by evening storms and although it will remain warm, the mix of sunny spells and showers will be back for the rest of the week.

The KNMI weather bureau says in its long-term forecast that there is a 50% chance that the changeable weather will continue into August, and a 50% chance of dry, sunny days.
