More millionaires: 107,000 Dutch households are worth more than €1m

The number of millionaire households in the Netherlands rose slightly to 107,000 in 2014, according to national statistics office CBS.
The 5,000 rise in the number of millionaires means 1.4% of Dutch households now hold assets of over €1m. Their combined wealth – assets minus the value of their home and mortgage debts – is €340bn.
The most millionaire households are in Laren, where over 10% of households have more than €1m in assets. Bloemendaal and Blaricum complete the top three.
By contrast, just 0.3% of the households in Kerkrade, Limburg are millionaires.
Although housing makes up a significant proportion of household wealth, 6% of Dutch millionaires do not own their own home. And only one-third have a property worth more than €500,000.
