Speed limit to hit 130 kph on more roads

February 4, 2016

Photo: Wikimedia CommonsThe maximum speed limit is being increased to 130 kph on more Dutch roads from Friday, broadcaster Nos says.

A total of 19 stretches of road will have the higher speed limit, including parts of the A28 between Hoogeveen, Assen and Groningen. In addition, the speed limit on part of the 10-lane A2 between Utrecht and Amsterdam will go up to 130 kph in the evening and at night.

‘Our aim is to make sure the maximum limit is 130 kph on 77% of roads, simplifying the system for motorists,’ transport minister Melanie Schultz is quoted as saying.
