All nine are accused of being members of a terrorist organisation and recruiting others to go to fight in Syria.

Main suspect Azzedine C, who remains in detention, should be jailed for seven years, the department said. Muslim convert Rudolph H and Erasmus University drop-out Oussama C, who at 19 is the youngest suspect, face six and five years respectively.

The trial began in September and the verdicts are due on December 10, RTL news reports.
