Rotterdam station, Thalys train cleared due to suspicious man
Rotterdam’s central station was partly cleared of passengers on Friday morning after a man reportedly locked himself in the toilet of a Thalys train.
The train was on its way from Amsterdam to Paris.
Heavily armed police boarded the train, along with a specialist negotiator, in an effort to pick up the man. According to some people who claim to have been on the train, the man said he had a bomb.
The Thalys train company said on Twitter there is no danger to passengers and the situation is ‘under control’.
Train services to and from Rotterdam have been halted.
On August 22, a 25-year-old Moroccan national locked himself in the toilet of a Thalys train from Amsterdam to Rotterdam and was overpowered by passengers after threatening to carry out a shooting spree. Several passengers were injured.
