FC Utrecht 3 ­ 3 Cambuur Leeuwarden: Utrecht fightback denies first win for Cambuur

A Bartholomew Ogbeche double wasn’t enough to seal a first win of the season for Cambuur.

The in form striker powered home a header on 26 minutes to give the visitors a deserved lead, before Willem Janssen drew the sides level early in the second half.

Cambuur quickly regained the upper hand when Ogbeche finished calmly from close range, and when Sander van de Streek made it 3­1 with a clinical low drive, the points seemed bound for Leeuwarden.

However, Nacer Barazite pulled one back for Utrecht on 72 minutes, and when Cambuur keeper Harm Zeinstra brought down Kristoffer Peterson in the box, Janssen made no mistake from 12 yards.

Despite a straight red card for Zeinstra, Utrecht couldn’t find the winning goal, leaving both sides with a share of the spoils.

Heerenveen 0 ­ 0 Vitesse Arnhem: Dominant Vitesse fail to break down Heerenveen

Erwin Mulder was the stand out player as the Heerenveen stopper pulled off a number of excellent saves to deny Peter Bosz’ Vitesse.

Mulder denied Milot Rashica, Dominic Solanke and Lewis Baker in the opening period, before the assistant referee came to the keeper’s aid as Baker was rightly flagged offside.

The best opening for Heerenveen came in the second half, but winger Luciano Slagveer fired over with Vitesse goalkeeper Eloy Room stranded.

Ajax 2 ­ 0 Groningen: Ajax dispatch toothless Groningen

Undefeated league leaders Ajax eased past Groningen to make it six wins from seven games.

With Ajax dominating possession without hurting Groningen, a Nemanja Gudelj free kick was enough to give the hosts the lead in a disappointing first half.

Frank de Boer’s men improved in the second period, but striker Arkadiusz Milik was profligate in front of goal.

It was left to Viktor Fischer to secure the points as the substitute beat two men, before chipping over the onrushing Padt on 80 minutes.

Ajax remain in pole position while Groningen will have to improve if they are to claim anything out of a Thursday evening trip to Portuguese cup winners Braga in the Europa League.

PSV Eindhoven 2 ­ 1 NEC Nijmegen: Champions scrape past impressive NEC

A late Jurgen Locadia​h​eader gave PSV all the points at the Philips Stadion.

However, after pushing back the champions for long periods, NEC will be disappointed not to have at least taken a point.

PSV claimed the lead against the run of play through Luuk de Jong, after the visitors failed to take advantage of a confident opening.

Rens van Eijden was unfortunate to hit a post before both Anthony Limbombe and Marcel Ritzmaier passed up excellent chances to punish PSV.

NEC finally drew level on 62 minutes when Santiago Arias upended Limbombe and Christian Santos made no mistake with the spot kick.

Poor marking would eventually be NEC’s downfall as Locardia headed home a Maxime Lestienne corner after 73 minutes.

AZ Alkmaar 3 ­ 1 Heracles Almelo: AZ upset surprise early pace setters

Heracles’ superb early season run came to a halt in Alkmaar as goals from Markus Henriksen, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Muamer Tankovic ended a five game winning streak.

AZ, who have so far struggled to recapture last season’s form, were two up within 17 minutes as Henriksen bundled home from close range, before Gouweleeuw headed home a corner.

Heracles, missing the spark of star man Oussama Tannane, pulled one back on 77 minutes through Jaroslav Navratil, but a mazy Tankovic run and finish gave AZ a very welcome three points.

De Graafschap 2 ­ 2 Willem II: Vermeij the hero as De Graafschap claim first Eredivisie point

A last minute Vincent Vermeij header handed a first point in seven games to ten man De Graafschap.

The ‘super farmers’ horrendous start to the season seemed destined to continue as stand in striker Erik Falkenburg gave Willem II a flattering two goal advantage at the break.

And things went from bad to worse for De Graafschap as Alexander Bannink was shown a second yellow for encroachment on 60 minutes.

However, when Dries Wuytens was brought down in the box, Cas Peters cooly dispatched the spot kick. Leaving De Graafschap substitute Vermeij to raise the roof with a late, late header.

ADO Den Haag 3 ­ 3 Excelsior: Rotterdammers claim vital point in six goal thriller

ADO came into the game on the back of midweek cup humiliation at the hands of amateur side Genemuiden.

But Henk Frazer’s team started in dominant style as striker Mike Havenaar volleyed home a Edouard Duplan cross.

Excelsior had barely got into the ADO half but they were level just before the break when a Adil Auassar deflected shot beat keeper Martin Hansen.

Gianni Zuiverloon restored the hosts lead with a towering 50 minute header, only for Auassar to restore parity with a clever finish just ten minutes later.

A back post finish from Havenaar put the home side back in front on 66 minutes, but Brandley Kuwas brought Excelsior level for a third time after a superb solo run and powerful strike.

Feyenoord 2 ­ 0 PEC Zwolle: Van Bronckhorst moves Feyenoord up to second in the Eredivisie

Feyenoord overcame PEC for the second time in four days as Dirk Kuyt and Eljero Elia sealed victory in De Kuip.

PEC had suffered a 3­0 reverse in the midweek KNVB cup clash, and despite a much improved performance, the two second half goals made it a week to forget for Ron Jans’ men.

More than matching Feyenoord in the first period, the visitors thought they had the lead only for a Lars Veldwijk effort to be ruled out for handball.

Dirk Kuijt had grabbed a brace in midweek and the Feyenoord captain came back to haunt PEC when finishing a Rick Karsdorp cross on 54 minutes.

The impressive Karsdorp then found Michiel Kramer with a superb ball, but the big striker could only fire wildly over the bar.

Feyenoord eventually wrapped up all the points when Elia cut in onto his left foot before slotting past Mickey van der Hart in the PEC goal.

Twente 2 ­ 1 Roda JC: Twente finally claim first win of the season

Captain Hakim Ziyech and debutant striker Jari Oosterwijk starred for Twente as the Tukkers finally secured a first Eredivisie win of the campaign.

Oosterwijk stooped to head home a Ziyech cross on 25 minutes to give the hosts a deserved lead.

And Twente talisman Ziyech, who this week announced his decision to turn his back on the Dutch national team in favour of Morocco, was again the provider as Kamohelo Mokotjo doubled the advantage four minutes later.

Roda pulled one back when Tomi Juric rose highest to nod home a free kick on 80 minutes, but Twente held firm to seal a most needed first victory of the season.
