British embassy fire in The Hague is suspected arson
The 32-year-old man arrested following a fire at the British embassy in The Hague will remain in custody, police said on Tuesday evening.
The man is suspected of being involved in the fire, which police now believe to have been arson.
The man comes from The Hague and is said to work at the embassy in a support role. He will appear in court on Friday.
No one was injured in the fire which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning but there has been considerable smoke and water damage. Embassy staff have been working from a fall-back location at the ambassador’s residence.
