The Netherlands overtakes Switzerland, has Europe’s fastest internet
The Netherlands has overtaken Switzerland and now has the fastest internet in Europe, according to the latest State of the Internet report by the Akamai group.
The average Dutch internet speed was 12.5 Mbps in the third quarter of last year, 23% faster than in the previous quarter, the Akamai research shows. Some 44% of Dutch households have internet faster than 10 Mbps on average.
Only South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong have faster internet than the Netherlands. The average global speed is 3 Mbps.
