Dutch gymnast Epke Zonderland was named Dutch sportsman of the year for the fourth time in his career at Tuesday night’s prize-giving ceremony.

Zonderland added the world horizontal bar title to his collection of medals this year. He also won the sportsman of the year competition in 2009, 2011 and 2012.

Sportswoman of the year was world champion cyclist Marianne Vos, who takes the title for the third time. She saw off strong opposition from swimmer Ranomi Kromowidjojo and skater Ireen Wüst.

The team of the year award went to beach volleyball players Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwse who took the world title in 2013. This was  the first time a Dutch team has won the event.
