The Amsterdam house where legendary Dutch footballer Johan Cruijff grew up is for sale and may be turned into a museum, the Parool reports on Thursday.

Housing association Ymere which owns the house at Akkerstraat 32 said it is open to all options. The property, where the Cruijff family ran a greengrocers, is currently empty and is being prepared for the market.

The Parool said momentum is gathering for the house to be turned into a museum about Cruijff, Amsterdam football club Ajax and Betondorp (literally concrete village), the housing estate where the football player lived.

Betondorp is just a few streets away from the De Meer stadium, where Ajax was based until 1996, and where Cruijff made his name.
