Online bullying, hacking, fraud affect one in eight

Some form of cyber-crime affected one in eight people in the Netherlands last year, according to the latest security monitor published by national statistics office CBS.

The CBS definition ranges from online bullying to hacking and phishing. Online bullying accounted for one in four cases. Half of cyber-crime victims had their computers, smart phones or email accounts hacked.

The monitor also showed one in five people had experience of traditional crime – such as violence, theft and burglary – last year, and one in three people feel unsafe from time to time.
