Double for Ireen Wüst, Kramer defends title at world speed skating
Ireen Wüst has added the 1,500 metres gold medal to her title haul at this week’s speed skating world championships in Sochi, Russia.
Wüst took the title three seconds clear of fellow Dutch woman Lotte van Beek.
On Thursday Wüst took the 3,000 metre gold. She competes in the 1,000 metres on Saturday.
Later on Friday, Sven Kramer successfully defended his title in the 5,000 metres. Kramer, 28, won gold over the distance in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012. Dutchman Jorrit Bergsma was second.
