Heineken heiress leads revamped rich list

The Quote 500 rich list has a new leader after 14 years in Heineken heiress Charlene de Carvalho.

Carvalho’s rise is not due to an increase in Heineken’s fortunes, but new rules for compiling the rankings, the business magazine says.
The Brenninkmeijer family, which traditionally heads the list, has now been put in a separate ranking of the country’s richest families. ‘It has never been really fair to lump all the members of one family together,’ said editor in chief Mirjam van den Broeke.
Freddie Heineken’s daughter has an estimated fortune of €5.4bn, some €17bn behind the combined worth of the Brenninkmeijers, the business magazine says.
