Almere Amsterdam toll road not cost effective
A purpose-built toll road between Amsterdam and Almere would not be cost-effective, according to transport ministry research published on Tuesday evening.
The forecast income from tolls would not be enough to cover the cost of building the road – much of which would be a seven kilometre bridge over the IJmeer lake north – east of the Dutch capital, the ministry said.
A number of MPs, including the ruling VVD, say building the road would reduce traffic jams between the two cities.
