C&A again in court over G-star imitations
Department store C&A has been ordered to remove clothing featuring the word RAW because it is too similar to wording used by jeans brand G-star, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Friday.
It is the second time in two months the family-owned firm has been accused of copying the Dutch urban label.
The court rejected C&A’s claim that use of the word RAW, which has been used by G-star for years, is simply meant to imply an urban style.
In July C&A was given five days to remove t-shirts and jeans with logos which resemble G-star logo from shops all over Europe.
The C&A own-brand clothing used the tag D STR. The court said the company ‘appeared to have crept as far as possible towards G-star’ and to ‘boost its own attractiveness’ by its similarity to the G-star brand.
