Almost 1,000 cases involving child sexual abuse are not being investigated at the moment because so much police time is being spent on the Amsterdam daycare abuse scandal, according to research by RTL news.

Some 75 sex crime experts have been drafted in from other police forces to help the Amsterdam investigation, RTL said.
Some 770 cases were awaiting investigation by December last year and that has risen by a further 180.
At least 80 very young children are said to have been abused by creche worker Robert Mickelsons. He is currently on trial in Amsterdam.
