Elsevier, PowNed not prosecuted for anti-Semite statement

The public prosecution department in Amsterdam has decided not to prosecute magazine Elsevier or public broadcaster PowNed for calling Gretta Duisenberg an ‘anti-Semite’.

Duisenberg, wife of the former Dutch central banker Wim who died several years ago, is a known campaigner for Palestinian rights.
‘The decision not to take legal action is partly due to the fact that the statements which Mrs Duisenberg objects to were made within the context of a debate in society which she is also a part of,’ the court said.
