Queen Beatrix clears out her attic
Queen Beatrix and her three sisters are set to auction off thousands of family pieces left to them by their mother Juliana, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.
The auction will take place at Sotheby’s next March and is predicted to raise up to €3m, the paper says. The money will go to charity.
All the items, ranging from glassware to paintings and furniture, come from Juliana’s palace at Soestdijk. Juliana died in 2004.
According to the Telegraaf, the queen and her sisters have agreed to the sale to free up more space for the family archives.
