Android eats away at Apple and Symbian

Apple’s mobile internet operating system iOS and Nokia’s Symbian have both lost significant Dutch market share to Google’s Android, according to web traffic monitor Statcounter.

At the beginning of this year, Apple controlled 60% of the mobile internet market, but that has now fallen to 51%. Nokia’s Symbian has also been hit, down from almost 22% to 12%.
By contast, Google’s Android system has increased its market share from 4% to 23% over the past year.
Worldwide, Symbian is market leader. Nu.nl says the difference is probably because many Dutch Nokia phone users do not use mobile internet services.
