Charities clean up investment policies
A number of big Dutch charities are investing in environment-unfriendly companies and the arms trade, tv show Uitgesproken Vara reported on Monday evening.
Some 52 charities allowed Vara to look into their investment portfolios.
Children’s charity Jantje Beton, which put money into tobacco companies, weapons makers and nuclear power, said immediately it would stop investing altogether and put its money into high-earning savings accounts.
The national heart foundation Hartstichting said it would stop investing in companies which make cluster bombs.
