Nazi newspapers to be put online

The Dutch national library is pressing ahead with plans to place its collection of pro-Nazi newspapers from the Second World War period online.

The library says it believes it is important to make this ‘historical reality available to everyone in an uncensored form’.
The library began digitalising its complete collection of newspapers, dating back 400 years, in the spring.
According to the Volkskrant, the justice ministry has warned the library that it could be open to prosecution for publishing Nazi newspapers.
The Israel information centre CIDI is also opposed to publication, saying it will provide ammunition to encourage anti-semitism.
