Amsterdam house prices rise slightly in Q2

Average house prices in Amsterdam rose by 0.7% in the second quarter of 2010 but in the Netherlands as a whole, prices were down 2%, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday.

House prices also rose marginally in Haarlem, Enschede and Emmen, the CBS said.
Spokesman Senne Janssen said Amsterdam was not leading a recovery in house prices, which have been hard hit by the economic downturn. ‘The housing market is more dynamic than in other regions, so the increase is a little stronger,’ he said.
House prices in Amsterdam are still 5% down on pre-crisis levels.
