‘We are ready to join the government,’ says Geert Wilders

The exit poll’s prediction of a 13-seat gain for the anti-Islam PVV has made it a ‘glorious day’, Geert Wilders told a cheering crowd of supporters in Scheveningen.

‘1.5 million people voted for us… and our plans for more safety, less immigration and less Islam,’ Wilders said. The exit polls gave the PVV 22 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament on Wednesday night.
‘We want to make the Netherlands a better place and that is what we will give the Netherlands,’ Wilders said, before thanking his wife Christina for her support over the past year.
Later he told an Nos reporter he hoped the party would be able to join a coalition government. ‘We are the big winner and they cannot ignore us. We want to be taken seriously,’ he said.
