Dutch start saving hard again

Dutch savers added €1.1bn to their savings accounts in April, up from an average €800m in the previous three months, researchers from financial services group ING said on Wednesday.


And over 2009 as a whole, household savings grew by €12.1bn, the highest figure since 2001.
The increase in savings comes on the back of the reduction in consumer confidence and unease about personal finances, the researchers said.
