Danish police hunt Dutch nun suspected of manslaughter
Danish police are hunting for a Dutch nun who is suspected of involvement in the death of an elderly nun in 1993, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.
Theresa Brenninkmeijer, who is part of the wealthy Brenninkmeijer family, is said to have abused nuns at a convent in Denmark and covered up the death of one elderly woman who was locked out in the cold without proper clothing because she disturbed a mass, the paper says.
Although the case is now too old to be tried, Danish police hope the Catholic church will intervene in the matter, the paper says. The nun is now thought to be visiting another convent in Peru.
The Telegraaf says one nun reported the abuse to her local bishop who in turn told the Vatican authorities but no action was taken.
