Breda wants to be Unesco heritage site
Breda city council says the city should be included in the Netherlands’ next list of prospective sites for the United Nation’s world heritage list.
Every 10 years, the UN cultural organisation Unesco asks member states to draw up a tentative list of sites which it thinks should be included.
Breda officials say the historic medieval centre has over 400 monuments. In addition, the city has close ties with the Nassau family and royal traditions.
There are eight Dutch sites on the official world heritage list.
