VVD good for budget deficit, Labour better for spending power
The Liberal party (VVD) election manifesto contains the best measures for cutting the budget deficit and creating jobs, but Labour and the Socialist Party’s plans are the only ones to boost spending power, the CPB said on Thursday.
The macro-economic forecasting agency traditionally analyses all the party manifestos in the run up to a general election to assess their likely impact on the economy and employment.
The CPB presents its analysis as an ‘objective’ tool to allow voters to compare the parties’ policies. Only the pro-animal PvdD and Rita Verdonk’s Ton did not submit their manifestos for assessment.
