Mobile phone info on one web page, orders minister
Mobile phone operators have been told to make sure all important information about tariffs and charges is available on a single, easy-to-find web page.
‘This will enable consumers to compare prices more easily,’ economic affairs minister Maria van der Hoeven said in a letter to MPs.
Research by the ministry and telecoms watchdog Opta shows that consumers find it hard to work out exactly what their subscriptions cost. For example, people are often not aware that phone calls are rounded up to the nearest minute, not charged by the second, the minister said.
‘This important information must not be hidden in the small print in an endlessly-long list of charges,’ Van der Hoeven said.
