Liberals increase election lead
The VVD Liberals have increased their share of the vote by one seat and now stand to take 37 in the 150 seat parliament, according to the latest Synovate opinion poll for tv show Nova.
Labour has dropped three following Sunday’s tv debate and now stands on 30. Labour leader Job Cohen came under heavy attack from the other party leaders and was criticised by tv pundits for his uncertain performance.
‘Cohen is a modest debater. He does not like to go on the attack,’ one Labour insider told Trouw.
The party has also been hit by last minute revisions to its election manifesto which include tougher economic policies.
In the poll, the Christian Democrats have added three seats to take 26 and Geert Wilders’ PVV remains on 18.
