Keep to CO2 targets, say one in two voters
While one in two Dutch people think the next cabinet should keep to its ambitious targets for reducing CO2 emissions, 40% of them think money set aside for the project should be spent on other things, according to a TNS Nipo poll for the Volkskrant.
The outgoing cabinet agreed to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% in 2020, compared with their 1990 levels. This is much higher than the 20% reduction suggested by the EU.
But only 3% of voters think the environment is important enough to determine their vote in the June 9 general election, the poll shows.
