Dutch Rail turns over €500m from foreign activities

Dutch Rail (NS) turns over over €500m a year from its foreign activities, meaning the risks it runs by operating abroad are minimal, caretaker finance minister Jan Kees de Jager said on Friday.

NS, which is 100% state owned, has a workforce of 6,000 abroad in Germany, England and the Czech Republic, De Jager was quoted as saying by news agency ANP.
So far NS’s international arm Abellio has invested €78m in foreign activities, he said.
Socialist MPs had asked De Jager to clarify the situation surround NS’s foreign activities after it emerged the company plans to expand abroad.
