Shops, supermarkets and cafes in central Rotterdam and close to the Kuip stadium have been banned from selling alcohol during the second leg of the Dutch cup final between Feyenoord and Ajax on May 6.

The city council has implemented the ban between 14.00 and midnight because of the connection between alcohol and football-related violence, news agency ANP reports.
Police have also been given blanket powers to stop and search people in the city centre and known football hooligans will be banned from the area.
Amsterdam’s Ajax won the first leg of the two-match final 2-0. Ajax fans have been banned from the Rotterdam match, and the Amsterdam match was played in front of a home crowd only as well.
