D66 changes its mind again about Amsterdam coalition
Amsterdam’s local branch of the Liberal democratic party D66 does want to join in coalition talks in the capital after all, according to local tv station AT5.
The party has pulled out of talks with the Labour party twice because it is unhappy at the appointment of local Labour leader Lodewijk Asscher as temporary mayor.
But at a meeting of the local D66 party on Tuesday night, it emerged a lot of members are unhappy at this stance, leading to the change of heart, AT5 says.
Labour is currently in talks on forming a new coalition with the VVD Liberals and left-wing greens GroenLinks.
