Aidsfonds loses foreign aid grants

Aids charity Aidsfonds has failed to win government approval for €20m-worth of international projects over the next five years.

Many of the projects which have been rejected have already been supported by government funding for years and may now be stopped, spokesman Ton Coenen told the Volkskrant.
The charity says it is ‘shocked and disappointed’ by the foreign affairs ministry decision to refuse its application. A detailed response from the ministry is expected later.
The charity will still get money from the health ministry, national lottery and private donations.
