A total 1,322 lawyers faced some form of disciplinary proceedings last year and 16 were struck off for gross misconduct, according to the first joint annual report from the legal profession’s three disciplinary boards.

Of the complaints, 30% of the total (401 complaints) were found to be justified, the Volkskrant reports on Monday. Most involved lawyers not doing their job properly or breaking the rules of conduct, often to benefit themselves financially, the report shows.
The names of the lawyers found guilty of misconduct are not made public.
